MSCE, PE | Texas Forensic Engineer

Education:

MSCE, Structural, UTA 2017

BSCE, Focus in Structures, UTA 2015

Certifications:

ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade 1

Level 1 Unbonded PT – Field Installation

Bio

Miles has experience in structural design and detailing of residential and commercial structures. He has designed and managed projects including custom single-family residences, multi-family apartment/condominium complexes, commercial facilities, warehouses, and ancillary structures such as retaining walls, screen walls, and swimming pools. His designs utilize a variety of building materials, including dimensional lumber, engineered wood products, masonry, concrete, rolled steel, and light-gauge steel. Miles has designed the following types of structural systems: steel, masonry, wood, and concrete superstructures, conventional/post-tensioned ground supported foundations, conventional/post-tensioned elevated foundation systems, pier-and-beam foundations, masonry/concrete ground-supported or elevated retaining walls and screen walls, and ground-supported or elevated pools. Miles also performed construction phase observations of the aforementioned structural systems to verify plan compliance. Through this extensive design experience, Miles has gained a greater understanding of design process requirements, which allows him to effectively evaluate structures for construction and design defects and natural perils. Miles has completed forensic investigations and authored reports concerning soil-structure interaction, the performance of structural systems, evaluations of building envelopes, and determination of causes, origin, and extent of peril damage.  He is also an ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade 1 and has a Level 1 Unbonded PT – Field Installation certification.
