Airedale Building

SBSA designed an adaptive reuse of Denver’s historic 1899 Airedale Building, which converted the old hotel and tavern into the upscale Hostel Fish on the upper two floors and Ophelia’s Electric Soapbox – a restaurant, bar and live music venue – on the lower two floors. The second and third floors of the building were fitted with new hotel rooms placed behind the existing historic center hall corridor walls, which were preserved in order to secure State Historic Tax Credits for the project. A building addition added to the side of the structure included a new building entry, circulation stair, elevator and elevator lobby.
